PostSubject: This car is too good to be missed   Tue Nov 10, 2009 9:05 pm

Found in "ClubITR"

Hi guys,

I am posting this up as a favour for Ben from Touge Tune. This is his daily driver, so you can imagine how mechanically A1 it will be. For those that don't know Ben, he is the ex-owner/head mechanic of BEL Garage, and now runs Touge Tune. It is dead stock, and drive perfectly. The gearbox is super smooth, the engine feels as good as my EK1's engine which is 100,000km's old.

Car: 1991 Honda CRX ED9
Transmision: Manual, 5 Speed
Milage: 271,000 km's
Colour: Black
Engine: D16 Non-VTEC
Rego: until Feb 2010

It has been religiously maintained. Ben has recently installed a new Radiator and new Engine Mounts. Air Conditioning is amazing and works as new. It's all Ben ever talks about, lol. Sunroof works aswell. Car has NO rust. Mechanically you can't fault it, and it will make a great daily, or is ready for a B-series swap. Ben will also throw in a DA Integra Brake package (front and rear), consisting of Calipers, Rotors, Lines, pads and master cylinder and brake proportion valve.

Asking price is $3800

If you are genuinely interested, call Ben on 0412 262 888

Non-VTEC? What's the point of a Honda that doesn't have VTEC? Razz

I wasn't talking about the money (notice how I never mentioned the cost?), I was talking about the badge. The whole point of buying a Honda (especially a CRX) is for VTEC.

Driving a Honda without VTEC is like jerking off to PG Porn.

I thought that the difference between iVTEC and VTEC is that the former also has adjustable camshaft timing to go with the 2 different lobe profiles? That's better than plain old VTEC.

There were "economy" variants of VTEC in the Accord and Legend if I remember correctly.

iVTEC is pretty awesome, in my opinion. It's the second best camshaft technology in a production car right now (well, equal second with VVTi-L), after Ferrari's 3D lobes.

Most "variable valve timing" engines only get camshaft timing adjustment, which isn't as effective as multiple lobes. I wish my car had iVTEC rather than just variable camshaft timing on the intake cams.

From memory the i-vtec means different things in different engines (e.g. CRV, Civic R18A, Civic K20Z, etc)... but Honda just brands them all together under the i-vtec branding to make it look more consistent.

Congrats on the sale to BEN!

Jace is correct, the K series engine in the FD2 has the vtec that allan is describing while the R18 in the FD1 has the vtec as useless as a speed camera!
LOL!
umm FD1 i-vtec is for fuel economy only like the Jazz L series engine

As far as I can tell, the technology is still generally the same (camshaft timing and multiple lobes on the shaft itself) but the implementation varies depending on the intended purpose of the engine.

The sportier powerplans get a greater range of timing adjustment, the "big cam" will be a lot more aggressive, and the shaft will have 3 lobes instead of 2.
